What Is Cationic Guar Gum

Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride—often called cationic guar—is a plant-derived, positively charged conditioning polymer that deposits to hair and skin to deliver instant slip, detangling, and anti-static control. In shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and soap/syndet bars, it cushions surfactant systems to feel less stripping, boosts wet/dry combability, adds a soft conditioned film without greasiness, and can gently thicken water phases for better bar cohesion. It’s a go-to for silky lather, easier rinse-out, and a smoother, frizz-tamed finish at very low use levels.
