    Softest Hair

I tried to take the switch to bar shampoo and it was probably the best idea I have ever had. THE LATHER THAT YOU GET... AMAZING! After the shower my hair had almost zero fly aways and made my hair SOOOOO soft. Ive been using for about a week and a half and my hair is the healthiest it has ever been. This is a great product.

    Nice Tone, Gentle Formula

Most purple shampoos dry out my scalp, but this one feels super gentle and doesn’t strip my hair. The toning is subtle but builds up nicely with consistent use.

    Brass-Free Blonde Again!

I’ve tried a ton of purple shampoos, but this bar is a game-changer. It toned down the yellow in my blonde hair after just one use! Plus, it smells amazing and lasts forever. Never going back to liquid bottles again.

    Purple shampoo bar

I have dark blonde hair with highlights that tend to get yellow-toned in between my hair appointments, so I use a purple shampoo to bring it back to a cooler tone. This shampoo bar works and hasn't irritated my sensitive scalp. No complaints here!

Blonde Ambition, Purple Precision

Tone down the brass, turn up the brilliance with purple shampoo

What does purple shampoo do?

Purple shampoo uses violet pigment to neutralize yellow and brassy tones in blonde, silver, gray, and highlighted hair while it cleanses. It works on basic color theory: purple sits directly opposite yellow on the color wheel, so depositing a small amount of violet pigment onto hair cancels out the warmth that naturally develops over time from washing, sun exposure, hard water, and product buildup.

It's a toning shampoo, not a coloring or lightening product — it doesn't change your base color, it corrects the undertone. Our bar deposits that pigment from mica combined with a nourishing base of cocoa butter, shea butter, and castor oil, so it's toning and conditioning hair at the same time instead of just stripping and depositing.

Does purple shampoo lighten your hair?

No — purple shampoo does not lighten hair. It's a toner, not a lightener or bleach, so it can't lift your base color or make dark hair blonde.

What it does is correct the tone of hair that's already light: by neutralizing yellow and brassy undertones, it creates the appearance of a brighter, cooler, more "lifted" shade, even though the underlying color hasn't actually changed. If you're looking to lighten hair rather than tone it, that requires an actual lightening or bleaching service — purple shampoo is strictly a maintenance step for hair that's already blonde, bleached, gray, or highlighted.

How often should you use purple shampoo?

Most people get the best results using purple shampoo 1–2 times a week, adjusting based on how quickly brassiness returns and how light or porous their hair is. There's no single right answer — it depends on your hair's starting tone and how fast it picks up warmth.

If it's your first time using a purple shampoo, start with once a week and use a regular, non-toning shampoo the rest of the time, then increase frequency if you want a cooler result. Because our formula is sulfate-free and gentle, it can be used more often without the harsh stripping effect of traditional SLS-based purple shampoos — but using it as your only, daily shampoo can eventually lead to a dull or overly ashy tone, especially on very light hair.

Is purple shampoo bad for your hair — does it dry it out?

A well-formulated purple shampoo is not bad for your hair, but the toning pigment combined with a cleansing step can leave hair feeling drier than a regular shampoo if the formula relies on harsh sulfates. That's the main complaint people have with purple shampoo in general — not the pigment itself, but the surfactants doing the cleansing.

Our bar uses coconut-derived, sulfate-free cleansers (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate) instead of SLS, paired with cocoa butter, shea butter, castor oil, aloe, and marshmallow root to actively condition while it cleanses and tones. Used as directed — a few times a week rather than as a daily driver — it shouldn't dry hair out, and following up with a purple or moisturizing conditioner further offsets any dryness.

Why does my hair look purple or violet after using purple shampoo, and how do I fix it?

Hair can pick up a visible purple or violet tint when purple shampoo is left on too long, used in too high a concentration, or applied to hair that's very light or highly porous — porous strands absorb pigment faster and more unevenly than healthy, less porous hair. This is the most common complaint with purple shampoo overall, and it's almost always a usage issue rather than a problem with the product.

The good news: it's not permanent. A purple or violet tint typically fades within one to two washes using a regular, non-toning shampoo, and a clarifying shampoo will speed that up if you want it gone faster. To avoid it happening again, shorten your contact time (2–3 minutes is usually enough), use less product, and be extra cautious applying it to previously bleached or very porous ends, which tone much faster than the rest of your hair.

Purple shampoo vs. purple toner — what's the difference?

Purple shampoo is a gentle, at-home maintenance product, while purple toner is a stronger, salon-applied treatment typically mixed with a developer and used right after a lightening or coloring service. Toner delivers a much more concentrated, precise color correction in a single application; purple shampoo delivers a milder, cumulative effect over repeated washes.

Think of toner as the initial correction and purple shampoo as the upkeep — toner gets your color exactly where you want it after a salon visit, and purple shampoo is what keeps brassiness from creeping back in between visits. Purple shampoo isn't strong enough to replace a toning service if your hair has significant, established brassiness; it's built to maintain a cool tone, not create one from scratch.

Can I use purple shampoo on brown hair or hair with highlights?

Yes, but only on the lightened parts — purple shampoo won't tone or affect solid brown or dark hair, since there isn't enough underlying yellow/orange pigment in dark strands for the violet pigment to neutralize. It needs light hair to work on.

If you have brown hair with blonde or lightened highlights, purple shampoo will tone down brassiness specifically in those highlighted sections, keeping them cool and balanced while your natural brown color is unaffected. This makes it a useful maintenance step even for people who aren't fully blonde, as long as some part of their hair has been lightened.

What makes your purple shampoo bar different from other purple shampoos?

Most purple shampoos rely on sulfates like SLS for cleansing, which are effective but can be harsh and drying — especially layered on top of a toning pigment that already asks a lot of your hair. Our bar cleanses with coconut-derived Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate instead, which lather well without the stripping effect.

We also build the formula around conditioning as much as toning: cocoa butter, shea butter, and castor oil for shine and smoothness, aloe vera and marshmallow root for scalp comfort and detangling, and lavender and chamomile oil for a gentle, natural scent instead of synthetic fragrance. And because it's a solid bar rather than a bottle, one 3.2 oz bar replaces up to 3 bottles of liquid purple shampoo with zero plastic waste.

Is your purple shampoo bar safe for color-treated hair?

Yes — it's formulated specifically for color-treated hair, not just safe for it. The sulfate-free, coconut-derived cleansing base is gentler on color than traditional SLS shampoos, which are known for fading and dulling dyed or lightened hair faster.

Beyond the cleansing agents, the toning pigment itself is doing double duty for color-treated hair: it's actively fighting the brassiness that shows up faster on bleached, highlighted, or color-treated strands, while cocoa butter, shea butter, and castor oil help offset the dryness that chemical processing causes.

Is your purple shampoo bar safe for sensitive scalps?

Yes — the formula is built around scalp-calming ingredients specifically because toning shampoos can otherwise be irritating on sensitive skin. Aloe vera and marshmallow root extract work together to soothe and hydrate the scalp, while lavender and chamomile essential oils add a gentle, calming finish instead of synthetic fragrance, which is a common irritant in many purple shampoos.

The sulfate-free cleansing base (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate) is also milder than traditional foaming agents like SLS, which tend to be the bigger trigger for scalp irritation and dryness in people with sensitive skin.

Can I travel with this shampoo bar?

Yes — solid shampoo bars are classified as solids by TSA, not liquids, so they're exempt from the 3-1-1 carry-on liquid rule and can go straight into your bag without size restrictions or a quart bag. There's also no risk of a bottle leaking in your suitcase, since there's nothing to spill.

Because the bar is concentrated (3.2 oz delivering 75–90 washes), it takes up far less space than a full-size liquid shampoo bottle for the same amount of use, making it a genuinely practical swap for travel — not just a novelty.
